Platinum Blue Angelfish
Platinum Blue is the most recently discovered major angelfish mutation. It is a recessive gene that causes the fish to have a greatly increased amount of blue/green iridescence as it ages. With a Gold and Gold Marble, which is what this line is derived from, it also removes most of the expression of orange coloration. Heterozygous (Het) Platinum Blue Crosses: These are the results of crosses to Gold/GM Platinum Blues. Each carries one Platinum Blue gene, but do not express the trait. When crossed to each other, they will produce 25% Platinum Blue expression in the next generation. Streaked Black Het Platinum Blue: Those for sale here, contain one Black gene, one Gold gene, one Platinum Blue gene, one Streaked gene and some may contain a Stripeless gene. In the next generation 25% of their offspring will express the Platinum Blue traits (blue iridescence), so you will get several different Platinum Blue types - Black Platinum Blue, Double Dark Black Platinum Blue, Gold Platinum Blue and possibly all of the above in the blushing version. All the dark strains will show a percentage of Streaked Platinum Blue. Streaked add a lot of iridescence and so does Platinum Blue, so these may be especially unique. |
